Owens Corning is an American company that develops and produces insulation, roofing, and fiberglas composites and related materials and products. It is the world’s largest manufacturer of fiberglas composites.

We partnered with Owens Corning for a Manufacturing Data Architecture Workshop focusing on the data flow from assets to edge and cloud.

Since joining CESMII in 2023, Owens Corning has been a dynamic addition to our network, with Brian Perlstein serving on our Smart Manufacturing Executive Council. Our mission at CESMII is to accelerate the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies, enhancing energy efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness across the industry.

This workshop brought together experts to address the current state and challenges of data architecture, focusing on the vital flow of data from assets on the factory floor to edge devices, and from edge to the cloud. We delved into the integration of diverse systems, including SCADA, Historians, and ERPs, and explored the advantages of information modeling and graph databases for better data management and analytics.

The discussions underscored the importance of a clear and efficient data architecture to support Owens Corning’s Digital Manufacturing Transformation strategy. By implementing best practices and solutions, Owens Corning is set to enhance its data management capabilities, ensuring scalability, supportability, and improved decision-making.

This collaborative workshop provided valuable insights and a roadmap for optimizing data architecture, unlocking the full potential of data for improved operations.

If you or your company is interested in conducting a similar workshop at your facilities, please reach out to steve.winski@cesmii.org.
