Automotive Industry – Global Collaboration to Drive Standardization
In light of increasing digitalization and the resulting requirements, manufacturing throughout the world is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The real and virtual world will continue to coalesce. The entire value chain will be integrated and supported by digitalization, from product, production and process design to on-site customer service and circularity – across locations as well as company and national boundaries.
Location: CESMII Booth 2424
Digitization in factories is intensifying and operational know-how is not keeping up with the latest technologies. Connected factory workers need to use digital tools and data management techniques to augment the way they work and improve communication, with not only management, but also their support people from quality, inventory, and maintenance departments.
These improved processes can reduce variability, improve decision accuracy, and resolve issues quicker but only if frontline workers have the required digital fluency and skills.
Join this session to discuss several initiatives that manufacturers can embrace for their workforce including upskilling and training on new Smart Manufacturing micro-credentials. Leverage the tools that CESMII, the Smart Manufacturing Institute, is making available with technical trainers, community colleges, and ecosystem partners including ToolingU, Amatrol, and SACA.
Speakers:
Conrad Leiva, Vice President of Ecosystem & Education, CESMII
Location: Conference Room 202A
The CESMII | SME Smart Manufacturing Executive Council Forum will be convening at the event for the first time in person. This forum is not open to the public and will solely consist of members of the council & invited guests.

Since the 1970’s, organizations have been digging separate distinct trenches for Operations and Information Technology systems (OT and IT) – and those trenches have grown into canyons. One of the most powerful promises of Industry 4.0 technology is that the technology itself is no longer a barrier to these 2 worlds co-existing efficiently. There is a major barrier, though – the people who operate today’s OT & IT infrastructure who are often paralyzed by the fear of the unknown and layers of historical confusion. Leaders must embrace the concepts that Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing offer to deliver solutions that enable their stakeholders to manage manufacturing supply chains around value streams and business functions seamlessly across the legacy OT and IT boundaries.
In this talk, Mark & Doug will discuss several truths and debunk the various myths about how to achieve convergence. Truths about the simplicity, security and flexibility of converged capabilities to the business, and the incredible value it can bring. Myths that lead to unapproachable systems that lack of reliability, and perform poorly with unmanageable vulnerabilities and minimal interoperability.

Location: Conference Room 202AB
This meeting is required for all CESMII members to discuss the institute’s future, hear from senior leadership and hear updates on the organization’s progress. Breakfast will be served.
